VIGO and the Environment
A growing number of people are focusing on environmental factors as they make decisions in their home and commercial projects – looking for greener options in the fixtures they purchase and the way they are using them. At VIGO, we strive to do our part in helping as many people as possible create more eco-friendly kitchens and bathrooms.
VIGO invests considerable time and money into meeting – and in many cases exceeding – mandatory and optional certifications for our products. Many are environmentally focused, such as WaterSense®, a certification from the Environmental Protection Agency that requires a reduced flow rate for kitchen and bathroom faucets. 100% of VIGO bathroom faucets being sold today hold the WaterSense certification and have been designed with water consumption reduction in mind. In addition to our faucets, our entire shower panel collection already meets the upcoming WaterSense 2.0 gallons per minute (gpm) regulations. As we grow our selection of bathroom faucets, we are committed to continuing this perfect track record, adding only WaterSense-certified products to the existing line.
New laws are taking effect within the state of California that require residential bathroom faucets to have equal to or less than 1.2gpm flow rate and kitchen faucets to have equal to or less than 1.8gpm. This certification, referred to as CALGREEN, will be in effect starting in January 1, 2016. As of our July 2015 production, all of VIGO’s kitchen faucets are already CALGREEN compliant. VIGO is also working diligently with sub-suppliers and third party certification companies to modify all bathroom faucets to meet these new regulations. All of our products are also prop 65 compliant and CARB compliant (vanities).
In addition to taking an eco-friendly approach to our products, we take the time to train our internal staff, as well as our retail partners, in the importance and impact of these designations to insure full understanding of the benefits to the end user and to our planet.
